Tween Loft Bed Plan Ideas

Tween loft bed – Full-size ceilings are often best built by themselves because there are very few commercially available ceilings, and most are built for double mattresses. Whether you want a bigger cot for your child or an adult sized cot for a vacation home, a full or double size cot is a project that can save you a lot of floor space in your room in exchange for cheap supplies and an afternoon labor. Cut wood to suit bed dimensions. If you do not have a chainsaw, your bed or home improvement center will usually cut it for you cheaply. Sand all faces in your work.

Paint or bet, if desired. If you choose to add this step, the rest of the project will take an extra day as you wait overnight for your cover to dry. Place your four beams on the floor in a rectangle. Place the shorter beams with the ends in the longer beams. Place all the beams so that the narrow side (the 2-inch side) is on the floor the beams get bigger than they are wide. Screw the beams together with two wooden screws per corner. Drill through the face on the longer beam and in the middle of the end of the shorter tween loft bed beam, with the two stacked vertically about an inch apart from each other.

Place the plywood board on top of your rectangular frame with all edges of the sheet at even height with all edges of the tween loft bed frame. Screw the plate into place with a screw in each corner, drilled down through the plywood into the beam below. Reinforce with a screw at the center for each edge of the mattress frame. Drill this screw down through plywood and into the beam below. For best results, run this screw for about 3/4 inches from outer edge plywood.  Set your frame at the end so that you can access both the plywood side and the beam side. Set a 6-inch with 6-inch insert in the corner, embedded in the angle formed by two beams. Screw it into place with three wooden screws along the diagonal of the square formed at the end of the post. Screw through the plywood and into the end of the post.
