A full size sofa bed contains a hidden mattress and frame folded out into a bed. Measuring your room to check it can accommodate a sofa bed means measuring the space for the sofa plus mattress and frame. You also need to plan to move the sofa bed in your room as the doors and corridors leading to your room must be large enough to allow the passage of the sofa bed. Get the dimensions of the sofa bed you want to place in your room, and choose the place you want the sofa bed to be in the room. Measure the length of the couch on your tape measure and place the extended tape measure where you want the back of the couch to be seated. Run a piece of tape on the floor next to the tape measure that corresponds to the length you have measured. If you place the sofa against a wall, place the band six to eight inches away from the wall to allow the rear side of the sofa to be divided.
Then to measure a room for a full size sofa bed. Measure the depth of the sofa on your tape measure and place two tape pieces that correspond to this measurement that extends from each end of the band, which represents the length of the sofa. Connect the two sides to the depth so that you have the contours of a rectangle on the floor. This is the amount of floor space your couch will pick up when the sleeper mechanism is not pulled out.
Measure the height of the full size sofa bed, and plot this on the wall where you place the sofa. This is especially important if you have windows on this wall that you will want to determine if they are clear on the back of the sofa. Review the measurements of the sleeper sofa mechanism, and draw them on the floor with tape. You should now have a rectangle in tape that corresponds to the couch and another rectangle of tape corresponding to the sleeper mechanism. Note how much space is left in the room.
